Are you one to watch?

We love to celebrate the work of new design talent (communication, experience, spatial, object design we want to hear from you all), and we are always on the lookout for people (we call them 'emerging designers') that we can tell our readers about.

Would you be interested in being profiled by us? If so…

Tell us, in your own voice, the story of who you are and how you got to be a designer (we are looking for about 500 words — don’t worry, we have included questions below to get you started and we have an editorial team ready to help); send us images of your work (we will four or more hi-res images, student work is just fine, but if you have some ‘work’ work that would be great!) and send us a link to your website or portfolio.

Here are the questions you can use as a guide. You can use these questions as a guide and you don't have to answer all of them or restrict yourself to just these topics.

Tell us about your background:

Who are you?

Where did you grow up?

How and why did you choose design as a career?

Was there a defining moment in your life that shaped you and your path as a designer? Tell us about it.

Do you think where and how you grew up affects the work that you do? Why?

Tell us about your design education:

Where did you study? Why did you choose to study there, and what was it like?

When did you graduate?

Were there other things that you did that influenced your growth as a designer during this time? (side hustles/personal projects/travel etc?)

Tell us about your emergence into the ‘real’ design world:

How did you find life after university/college? Did graduating ‘ready’ you for the real world?

Where have you worked since you graduated? (doesn’t have to be just design studios)

Tell us about where you work now:

What is it like and what do you do?

Do you do any other design (related) work outside your day job?

Tell us about your dreams and aspirations:

What do you want your future as a designer to be?

If you could live the life of another creative person, who would it be and why?

Finally, if you could share one piece of advice with a current design student, what would it be?

Become one of our emerging designers and send your answers to us and don't forget to include a link to your portfolio/website and your images.
