Weapons of Mass Disruption - Two

‘Disruption’ has become such a buzzword that it makes me recoil in horror! In my type design practice, ‘disruption’ simply means a new way of doing things or a new way of looking at things.
In the past 12 months, a new technology has appeared called Variable Fonts, which completely re-thinks the way font families are created. (Variable fonts will change the way fonts are made because it will allow font designers much easier access to interpolation, which allows the automatic generation of multiple weights from a single master. Previously, you needed two masters (such as light and bold) and you could generate any weight instance in between. Now you can generate weights outwards from a single ‘spine’ master.)
