NOSTALGIA—ALESSIA LUNETTA | GRAPHIC DESIGNER & PHOTOGRAHER
Nostalgia – although this is not a valid reason for design by hand, at least in our opinion, there is no denying its appeal.
We can see this urge to recapture a sense of craftsmanship and community, qualities that to have been lost in the development of wonderful new technologies, in the renaissance of the traditional barber shop – a place to experience that warm-towel feeling of ease and trust as you surrender yourself, and your beard, to the hands of skilled professionals. But if we want to recapture the essence of places that have almost disappeared, it helps to study the originals. Alessia Lunetta has tracked down and recorded for our inspiration a genuine example of that rarest of beasts – a barber shop that has been operating in the same place and the same state for over fifty years.
